Easy ways to submit claims

To avoid delays in the payments of your claims, we would like to encourage you to use these fast, easy ways to submit your claims.

You may submit a claim electronically using any one of the following methods

Download the Bankmed App which will allow you to:

  • Use the camera on your Smartphone to take a photo of the claim and submit it via the App
  • Should your claim have a QR code (similar to the one on the right), use your Smartphone to scan the QR code on the claim provided by your Healthcare Professional.

Submit claims using our website:

  • Log in to www.bankmed.co.za and go to ‘Claims’ and click on ‘Submit a claim’. Once there, go to ‘UPLOAD’ and click on ‘Upload now’. Select the file you wish to upload and then click on ‘Send claim’. Once the claim has been successfully uploaded you will receive a reference number.

E-mail your scanned claim to claims@bankmed.co.za

What happens once your claims have been submitted?

  • Should you have subscribed to the Daily Claims Notification e-mail, you will be notified once your claim has been processed. If you don’t currently receive this and would like to subscribe, kindly log in and go to ‘YOUR DETAILS’ and click on ‘Communication Preferences’.
  • You may track your claim while it is being processed using the Claims Search tool by logging in and searching under ‘Claims’ and clicking on ‘Claims search’.

Benefits of submitting your claims digitally

  • Your claim will be processed within 48 hours
  • You are able to view and track your claim details
  • You are able to view all your interactions with the Scheme in the form of a detailed interactive timeline. This can be found on the home page when you log on to www.bankmed.co.za

Remember: Should your Healthcare Professional submit the claim to us electronically, you need not submit a copy.

Important information when submitting your claims

  • Claims are required to be submitted within four months of the date of service. Claims older than this will be considered stale and will not be paid.
  • Ensure that your membership number, full name, date of birth and the Healthcare Professional’s details, including their practice number, are clear on the claim.
  • Submit a detailed claim and not just a receipt. We require the details and coding of the treatment, medication and diagnosis for which you are claiming in order for us to process your claim quickly and accurately.
