Are you sure you’re healthy?
No matter what your Personal Health Assessment reveals about your health, take care of yourself. You can reduce your risk of many conditions and manage existing conditions by eating healthy food and exercising.
Healthy eating doesn’t mean a cold salad on an icy day or that you can never have hot chocolate again. One of the joys of winter is soup with fresh ingredients and rolling yourself up in a blanket to keep warm. You do have to creep out of your blanket for exercise at some point though. If you don’t mind wearing out your socks you could try sock skating through the house. Or if you’re not willing to risk a fall, some jumping jacks will do.
Being healthy goes much further than not feeling ill. Even if you don’t have any symptoms, your body can hide the early sign of a medical condition. Luckily, the earlier you find out about risk factors, the sooner you can do something about it.
Have a Personal Health Assessment (PHA) done to make sure
Bankmed believes in working with you to invest in your health, so we offer members and beneficiaries older than 18 years, one Personal Health Assessment a year.
As part of your Personal Health Assessment, a Healthcare Professional will measure your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose, as well as calculating your body mass index. These measures tell you if you are at risk of developing kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes type 2, or of having a heart attack or stroke. You may choose to have HIV/AIDS counselling and testing done at the same time.
The best part is that we pay for your Personal Health Assessment as an Insured Benefit. This means you don’t use up any of your day-to-day benefits to have the assessment done. Find out more about the Personal Health Assessment here.
Remember, knowing your health and taking care of it is the best recipe for health.
