Choose a Bankmed Designated Service Provider to get more from your medical aid

Bankmed is committed to providing top quality healthcare, and as part of our commitment, we have established various contracted Networks that may also be known as Designated Service Providers (DSPs) in the case of Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB) treatment. These DSPs include GPs, specialists, pharmacies and hospitals. They have been established to ensure you are given the best possible rates whenever you use them, allowing you to get the most out of your selected Plan.

Benefits of having contracted Networks in place

By establishing these Networks, we are able to leverage off the relationships with these Healthcare Professionals. This allows us to negotiate better consultation and dispensing rates for you. We are also able to ensure quality care for you by setting and monitoring the standards to which they are required to adhere to.

These Networks provide cover according to your chosen Plan. You must familiarise yourself with the Networks and DSPs that apply to your Plan. You will find additional information in the Benefit and Contribution Schedule. By using DSPs and Networks, you can avoid incurring out-of-pocket expenses provided that you still have benefits available for use.

What happens if you don’t use a Bankmed Network Healthcare Professional?

You can choose to consult with a Healthcare Professional of your choice.  Should you choose to visit a Healthcare Professional that is not in the Network, you will be required to pay the difference between the cost of your visit and the amount covered by the Scheme for that particular service.  The Scheme will only pay up to the Scheme Rate.
